Marantz is a company that manufactures and sells high-end audio products since 1953. It was founded in New York but now located in Japan.
Saul Marantz designed and built the first Marantz audio product in his home in Kew Gardens, New York. The high point of the company’s success in developing high fidelity audio systems started in the mid to late 1970s.
While under the ownership of Philips, the pioneer in CD technology, Marantz sold some CD players, but others were not as successful. So, by the 1990s, Marantz focused on higher-end components. It eventually merged with Denon and later named D+M Group, which is currently acquired by Sound United LLC.
